Results at Weydon School continue to go from strength to strength

We are once again delighted that our students benefit from another year of fantastic GCSE results at Weydon School. The education secretary, Gillian Keegan, told schools to prepare for lower GCSE results in 2023 as they wanted to see a return to pre-pandemic grading. We are therefore exceptionally happy for our students who have at least matched our exceptional ‘pre-pandemic’ 2019 results and, in some areas, exceeded them.

We are very proud of all our students and their teachers. Of particular note are the 47% of students who achieved the top grade 7-9 (equivalent to the old A*-A) in five or more subjects, this matches private schools according to the Independent newspaper and 52 students achieved ten GCSE’s at grade 7-9. This is a phenomenal achievement, especially for such a large number of students.

Nationally the gender gap between girls and boys has been widening, but not at Weydon. Our boy’s performance is exceptional and in line with the girls, due to the hard work and resilience of the staff and students. Often the students started revision classes at 7.30am in the morning and some were often still here in more revision classes until 6pm. This determination has well and truly paid off.

The Principal Jackie Sharman is quoted saying ‘The Y11 of 2023 should be so proud of what they have achieved. They showed that anything is possible if you work hard and believe you can. The staff have worked tirelessly to ensure that the students were ready for their examinations and this hard work has paid off. We will look back on the cohort of 2023 extremely fondly and we wish them all the best for their next exciting chapter; go and do great things!’
