Safeguarding, Mental Health and Online Safety at Weydon
We recognise our moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children. We make every effort to provide a safe and welcoming environment where both children and adults feel secure, able to talk and believe that they are being listened to.
We work in close partnership with Surrey County Council, local schools, Surrey Police, SABP Mindworks Surrey from the NHS, and a number of wellbeing and mental health charities to provide a holistic safety net for all children at Weydon.
A Whole School Approach
A whole-school approach to safeguarding involves creating a safe, supportive environment where every member of the school community is responsible for promoting the welfare and well-being of all students. This approach ensures that safeguarding is integrated into every aspect of school life, from policies and practices to the curriculum and ethos. It includes clear procedures for identifying and responding to concerns about a child’s safety, regular staff training, and fostering strong relationships between students, staff, families, and external agencies. The approach also emphasises promoting resilience and providing support for students at risk, while embedding a culture of vigilance, respect, and inclusivity throughout the school. By working together, schools can help prevent harm, ensure early intervention, and create a nurturing atmosphere where students feel safe, respected, and empowered.
