Measuring the impact of the careers program

Careers education at Weydon School begins from Y7 when pupils are introduced to career learning via a tutor time programme of lessons.  During Year 8 students are introduced to the psychometric assessment platform: Morrisby, which they will use as they progress through the school.  Morrisby enables students to research different qualifications, post 16 options and post 18 options.  Students can also access information on various careers, industries, employers and Labour Market Information.  Students develop a Morrisby profile which includes their personal aspirations which can be used to inform their career decisions and future options.

Throughout the year students encounter a range of employers, training providers and further and higher education institutions through a varied careers programme which includes guest speakers, enterprise opportunities, mock interviews and work experience placements.  Our annual careers fair provides an opportunity for students and their parents and carers to gain an insight into a diverse range of industries and employers, providing the opportunity for students to discover new careers and to speak directly to industry professionals.

Our careers lead works with students in Years 10 and 11, offering impartial careers guidance to support them with their next steps.  If further assistance is required, students are encouraged to visit the Careers Hub in the LRC at lunchtime.

We hold various events throughout the year including our careers fair, work experience, careers talks and mock interviews. We are very lucky here at Weydon School to have great support from our local community of parents, employers, education and training providers.  If you or your company would like to support any of our future events, we would love to hear from you.

Please visit the Careers pages on the Learning Platform for more detailed information on CEIAG at Weydon School.

Careers information will be reviewed annually every Spring, please contact our School Careers Lead: Mrs Katharine Fry (kfry@weydonschool.surrey.sch.uk) if you have any questions.
