Weydon Year 8 champions and podium finish for all in Active Surrey Netball County Finals

Netball teams from top placed schools from each district in Surrey had the opportunity to play each other in a series of short matches for the title of champion at Surrey Sports Park on Friday 21^st April 2023.

The event for years 8,9 and 10 run by Active Surrey started with a series of drills to prepare for the incredible level of netball ahead, followed by 5 games of 7 minutes each.

Playing in the home of Surrey Storm, our high performing county netball team, was a fantastic experience for all involved. They also had the opportunity to meet 2 of the players and quiz them on the Netball Superleague as well as discussing some position-based tactics.

Weydon were delighted that all 3 teams made it to the final and with a podium finish. Year 9’s were joint 3^rd place, year 10’s 2nd place (just losing out to winners Rosebery) and our year 8 team county champions, not conceding a game.

Staff were particularly impressed with the determination and resilience on display throughout the day and thanks must go to Active Surrey for the first of such events post Covid.
