Weydon Team Triumphs at The National Reading Champions Quiz Regional Heat
A talented team of readers from Weydon School have been celebrating their successful win in the regional heat of The National Reading Champions Quiz. Run by the National Literacy Trust and supported by the Authors’ Licensing and Collecting Society (ALCS), the quiz is an annual event that celebrates book knowledge of readers aged 10 to 14.
The prestigious and aspirational competition engages over 2,000 readers from across the UK in 23 regional heats, with the winners of each heat advancing to the grand final in London. The Weydon team of Emma Andrews, Luke Elithorn, Amelia Havill and Elizabeth Humphreys demonstrated exceptional book knowledge and teamwork in a challenging online competition. Angela Daniels, LRC Manager at Weydon commented that ‘the team did an incredible job against fierce competition answering some incredibly tricky questions. We are all immensely proud of them and their success is a testament to their dedication and love of reading, values that we really celebrate at our school’.
The team will now travel to London for the grand final on 21st May and along with our heartfelt congratulations, we wish them the very best of luck as they prepare for the event.
