Weydon School ranked top in the country in Sunday Times Parent Power 2026

Weydon School is delighted and immensely proud to announce that it has been ranked the top school in the country for ‘State secondary schools for 11-16 year olds’ in the Sunday Times 2026 Parent Power Awards.

This prestigious recognition is based on the outstanding GCSE performance of the Class of 2025, with 48.3% of all grades awarded 7-9, the equivalent of the former A and A*.

Principal Ros Allen said:

It is wonderful that the achievements of our students have been recognised in this way. These outcomes are not accidental or fortunate; they are the result of the hard work and determination of our students and the commitment, passion and care of our staff which together creates a culture of belief, ambition and joy and provides each student with the firmest of foundations from which they thrive and flourish. We are tremendously proud of them all!

Weydon was also awarded “State Secondary school for 11-16 of the year 2026”. The Sunday Times states “The top schools are preparing pupils to be curious, problem-solving and risk taking, ready for anything that comes their way as well as academic success” and explains how they chose the schools of the year – “ Many factors are taken into account including overall academic performance, year-on-year movement within a given league table and exceptional performance or provision in a specialism. We want to celebrate the academic excellence of pupils across the country, the passion and dedication of staff, and acknowledge the imaginative and ambitious initiatives that result in top marks and happy students.
