Year 6 Transition

We are delighted that as a family, you have chosen Weydon School, and look forward to building a partnership with you over the coming years.

Please use the documents below for vital information in relation to your transition – In addition please note for your diary the key dates below:

Two Student Induction Days; Tuesday 3rd July and Wednesday 4th July 2018;  8.40am until 3.20pm

The Induction Days are for students to meet their tutor, tutor group and to experience the challenges and expectations of Weydon School. On both Induction Days, the students should arrive at Weydon at 8.40am in their primary school uniform and should bring with them, their writing equipment, their reading book, their usual PE kit and a packed lunch. If your student carries an Inhaler or Epipen, please ensure they are carrying these items in their bags when they attend Weydon.

On the first induction day, students are requested to enter via the Student Entrance on Weydon Lane where they will be directed by Student Leaders and senior staff to the main School Hall or Gym; College dependant.

On the second induction day, the students are asked to make their own way to their tutor rooms.

Please note, should your child have Free School Meals at their Primary School, we will provide a packed lunch for them.

Year 6 Parent’s Information Meeting which will take place on Wednesday 4th July 2018 in the Medici Theatre either at 6.00pm or 7.00pm. This will last approximately 1 hour.

We look forward to seeing you at the Parent’s Information Meeting at Weydon when you will be given more details about the day-to-day running of the school and the curriculum your child will be following.

Please note, each College will have its own event. The Castle College meeting will start at 6.00pm and the River College meeting will start at 7.00pm.

We will advise you of your child’s College mid June. It will not be necessary for your child to attend this meeting.

The format of the meeting will be a presentation by Mrs Sharman & Ms Bowden. Following this, you will have an opportunity as a group, to meet your child’s tutor. It is important therefore that you attend your correct College meeting as this will be your opportunity to meet both your Progress and Achievement Leader and your childs form tutor.
