Induction Days; Both Tuesday 2nd July and Wednesday 3rd July 2019; 8.40am until 3.20pm
The Induction Days are for students to meet their tutor, tutor group and to experience the challenges and expectations of Weydon School.
On both Induction Days, the students should arrive at Weydon at 8.40am in their primary school uniform and should bring with them, their writing equipment, their reading book, their usual PE kit and a packed lunch. If your student carries an Inhaler or Epipen, please ensure they are carrying these items in their bags when they attend Weydon.
On the first induction day, students are requested to enter via the Student Entrance on Weydon Lane where they will be directed by Student Leaders and senior staff to the main School Hall or Gym; College dependant.
On the second induction day, the students are asked to make their own way to their tutor rooms.
Please note, should your child have Free School Meals at their Primary School, we will provide a packed lunch for them.
Students will be made aware of their tutor group and tutor teacher on their induction days in July. Tutor groups will be populated based on information received from the primary schools and will be populated according to these criteria:
- Students to follow their older siblings through the same College
- To achieve a balance of ability, gender and Special Educational Needs
Research shows that this method of building tutor groups is the best way to support progress. Making new friends within the tutor group is an important life skill and every effort to support this is made through the induction process.
Year 6 Parent’s Information Meeting will take place on Wednesday 3rd July 2019 in the Medici Theatre.
The Castle College Meeting will start at 6pm and the River College Meeting will start at 7pm.
They will last approximately 1 hour. We will advise you of your child’s College mid June.
At this meeting we will pass over more details about the day-to-day running of the school and the curriculum your child will be following. Please note, it will not be necessary for your child to attend this meeting.
The format of the meeting will be a presentation by Mrs Sharman & Ms Bowden and your child’s Progress and Achievement Leader. Following this, you will have an opportunity as a group, to meet your child’s tutor. It is important therefore that you attend your correct College meeting as this will be your opportunity to meet both your Progress and Achievement Leader and your childs form tutor.
First day of term will be Wednesday 4th September 2019 at 8.40am, finish at 3.20pm – upon arrival at school, students will be directed to either the main School Hall or Gym; College dependant.
