Weydon Student Becomes Nationwide Champion

Weydon Student Becomes Nationwide Champion

Weydon student, Tegan Perkins was competing in Blackpool  recently in the IDTA Nationwide finals for freestyle and rock n roll dance.

After making both finals Tegan and her partner became the nationwide champions in the age group13-15 rock ‘n’ roll and 13-15 freestyle.

Tegan has been dancing for 10 years now at JanSu school of dance and has had the same partner for the entire time.

To qualify for the nationwide finals in Blackpool they had to compete back in May in the regional qualifiers. To qualify you had to place in the top 12 in your category. Tegan and Tariq became south east champions at this event by winning both their categories.

The Blackpool finals are the top 12 from each region.

They have made the finals for the last 6 years but never quite made it to the champion spot. This year they were determined and their hard work and commitment paid off.

Ms Laura Butler, Tegan’s Progress & Acheivement Leader commented: “ What an amazing achievement for Tegan and her dancing partner. We’re very proud of her and so pleased that her dedication has given her this Championship title”
